Summer Show Update

Due to technical difficulties, OCT has decided to change their summer show.  They will now be performing Dearly Departed.

Dearly Departed
By David Bottrell and Jessie Jones
In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father's funeral, the Turpin's other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion: Firstborn Ray-Bud drinks himself silly as the funeral bills mount; Junior, the younger son, is juggling financial ruin, a pack of no-neck monster kids, and a wife who suspects him of infidelity in the family car; their spinster sister, Delightful, copes with death as she does life, by devouring junk food; and all the neighbors add more than two cents. As the situation becomes fraught with mishap, Ray-Bud says to his long-suffering wife, "When I die, don't tell nobody. Just bury me in the backyard and tell everybody I left you." Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need, and finally, the funeral.

Auditions will still be on May 29 & 30 at George Daily Auditorium at 7PM.

We hope to see you there!

Show Debate

There is still some serious debate about the summer show, even though we had previously voted on it.  After a meeting with the venue, some concerns arose that may cause a reconsideration.

Major factors include:
Budget - A huge two story set is costly.
Manpower - It also takes a lot of people and know how to construct it, not to mention move it if needed.
Safety - The set would likely be there for two weeks, meaning others will be working around it not under our supervision.

These are things that are real concerns when sharing a space with other groups, and we hadn't fully considered all of them.

We will keep you up to date with the decisions being made.  Auditions will still be in May, no changes to schedule are foreseen.

Summer Show Announcement

At tonight's meeting, the board officially decided on a show to produce in the summer.
Noises Off!
by Michael Frayn

Tentative dates include:
Auditions on May 29 & 30
and Performance on July 26, 27 & 28
At George Daily Auditorium.

Called the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called NOTHING'S ON. Doors slamming, on- and backstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.
